Chapter 2! Puerto Viejo Area

There is a little known secret about the east coast of Costa Rica, south of Limón – it actually belongs to Jamaica! The rumour floated by the rasta-wannabes is that the Jamaican navy will be arriving to make good their claim as soon as their stoned sailors remember where their ship is… not to mention…

Wild Animals Are NOT Pets!

Someone left a ping back on my site, which was very sweet of him. But I couldn’t approve it because him and his girlfriend have bought a baby sloth as a pet. This breaks my heart, that this little innocent was likely ripped away from his mother and will never be allowed to be a…

A Day in the Life of a Volunteer at Jaguar Rescue Center

I drag my ass out of bed at about 6:30; feed Cat; wash teeth, brush face… or is it the other way around? Hopeful  coffee is ready so armed with my Spanish/English dictionary I approach the kitchen and inquire to the cook’s health this fine/wet morning. If I am lucky I will get a Spanish…

Sometimes all it takes is a sloth cuddle

So my day starts with a cycle to work.. it is when I am the most connected to this place called Costa Rica. Not the only but definitly the most. The Pink Panther is not a speed demon so we aren’t breaking any records getting there and since it is about 7:20 am there aren’t…

Costa Rica… the night before I leave.

I think that I should have started this last year when the concept was morphing from 2 weeks in Panama to 6 weeks in Costa Rica but crone time is a speeding bullet and often it is all I can do is to hang o, close my eyes and hope for the best. In my…

Why Crone?

Why crone indeed. Well it is all about empowerment. Crone is a word that has been turned into yet another weapon to make women feel crappy about growing old.
So I want to take all the air out of that balloon & use it to help me fly by hoisting my crone flag high and proud. You know - "I am crone hear me roar" etc etc. I may not be the wisest one out there but I am a hell of a lot wiser than I was 30 years ago and that's all anyone can really hope for, right?
